Paducah Peach & Popeye!

If you’re looking for a financial advisor

… you could give birthday boy Dan Aykroyd (1952) a call. I’m going with his bold advice for our quote of the day. “And, I believe that if a man dies with a single penny still sitting in the bank, he’s a fool.”

He’s not the only interesting birthday today.

–          Actress Liv Tyler was born today in 1977. I particularly liked Ms. Tyler in THAT THING YOU DO and in Bernardo Bertolucci’s lovely film; STEALING BEAUTY.

–          Happy birthdays are also in order for the ZIP Code. It was born today in 1963.

–          Today is also the day in 1929 that cartoonist Elzie Segar created Popeye, the Sailor Man.

Other special happenings

–          Today in 1902, Sherlock Holmes began solving “The Disappearance of Lady Carfax”. SPOILER ALERT! He solved it.

–          One second was added to the clock today in 1993. I felt the earth move.

–          Cal Ripken played his first game today in 1982. I understand he went on to play one or two more.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

Today’s libation is for all you sweet wine lovers and to honor my busy winemaking friend Allen Dossey of Purple Toad Winery in Paducah. Today is Allen’s birthday. He tells me he’s finally legal and can drink his own wine. We’ll celebrate by having a bottle of Purple Toad Paducah Peach.

Rrrrribbett!

Cheers,

Roger
