It’s Bourbon Day!

What day isn’t?

Today in 1789 Rev. Elijah Craig distilled whiskey from maize for the first time. His whiskey was named Bourbon because;

  1. Rev. Craig resided in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
  2. The whiskey ended up being sold on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
  3. “Bourbon” sounds so good with the word “trail”.
  4. “Bourbon” sounds so good when Bogie says it.
  5. Any of the above. Just keep pouring!

‘Splain to me why there are no parades!

There were other inventions.

–          Today in 1834, Isaac Fischer, Jr. patented sandpaper.

–          John McTammany, Jr. patented the player piano today in 1834.

They were probably looking for bourbon in the wrong state.

Today in 1947 a UFO crash-landed in Roswell, New Mexico. Ri-i-i-i-ght.

It’s Flag Day!

Fly ‘em if you got ‘em!

Today in 1775, the United States Army was founded.

Walt Disney’s “Bambi” was released today in 1942.

Contrary to film short legend, Godzilla was in no way involved.
