Dr. Doolittle & the Summer of Love!

The Summer of Love began today!

It’s hard to believe on this 20-degree day, but it’s true.

Today in 1967, “The Human Be-In”, took place in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. That was the launching moment for the “Summer of Love”. Still sounds good to me. Where’s my headband?

I found it! But it doesn’t have the same far out look on this short-cropped gray head. Be that as it may, the Summer of Love sounds so good; we’ll make that our daily libation inspiration. Let’s hoist a;

Summer of Love Cocktail

4 Fresh Dark Cherries

¼ Large Lemon

1 ½ oz. Grays Peak Vodka

Polar Tonic Water

Crushed Ice

Remove the stems and pits from the cherries.

Add the cherries to a highball glass and muddle well.

Add all the juice from the lemon.

Add ice.

Add vodka.

Add tonic water and stir well.

Repeat; “far out!” five or six times and fling a frisbie or two.

It’s a big day for San Francisco.

Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe were wed in the “City by the Bay” today in 1954. I’m sure my invitation was lost in the mail.

Some interesting fellows were born today.

–          Sing/songwriter Ellis Paul was born today in 1965. I recommend Mr. Paul’s work.

–          Today in 1911, tattoo artist/icon Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins was born. Roll up yer sleeve!

–          Children’s author Hugh Lofting was born today in 1886. Mr. Lofting created the man who could talk to the animals; Doctor Doolittle.

Far out!

Cheers!

Roger
