Score One for Preservation!

It has worked so far!

Today in 1929, the United States and Canada agreed to preserve Niagara Falls. Janie and I were there this year and we can attest to the success of this agreement.

I also noticed that today in 1839, the first photo of the moon was taken. If I might make a humble suggestion; perhaps the United States and Canada could agree to preserve the moon as well since the countries seem to be on a roll with the falls and just what would waterfalls be without a moon?

Whatta day for Kentucky sports!

Today in 1945, the Kentucky Wildcats began a streak of 130 winning home games. The streak did not end until 1955. Let’s hope they begin to top that achievement tonight.

The Cardinals of Louisville have a basketball/football doubleheader deluxe this evening.

–          Today is Roger Miller’s birthday! Mr. Miller is one clever songwriter. He’s best known for his country comedy songs (you got to love a guy who writes a song entitled; “You Can’t Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd”), but his tunes for the musical “Big River” are my favorites. Of course, his best-known song will be the inspiration for our;

King of the Road Cocktail

1 oz. Cognac

1 oz. Royal James Gin

¾ oz. Dry Vermouth

1/8 oz. Crème Yvette

Stir with ice and strain into a coupe glass.

When you try this one you can be king of the road, but please don’t be on the road!
