What? Jurassic Park Wasn’t Available?

This one’s for all you jaded Martha Stewarts out there.

Are you looking for the next great entertaining idea? Try this on for size and I mean size.

Today in 1853, a dinner party was held inside a life-sized model of an iguanodon created by Benjamin Walterhouse Hawkins and Sir Richard Owen in South London. What kind of mind thinks of things like this? To quote that great philosopher, Bill Murray; “I wanna party with those guys!”

We have interesting birthdays today to celebrate;

–          The current “King” of basketball, LeBron James was born today in 1984. Most people outside Cleveland will be celebrating.

–          Writer/composer Paul Bowles (1910) and British filmmaker Carol Reed (1906) share this birthday. Mr. Bowles was an inspiration to the Beat writers in the fifties with such novels such as THE SHELTERING SKY and LET IT COME DOWN.  Mr. Reed’s best known film is probably The Third Man. I highly recommend the work of both gentlemen.

–          I am also a big fan of ex-Monkee/songwriter Michael Nesmith, who was born today in 1942. Mr. Nesmith gave us “Joanne”, “The House at Pooh Corners” and a goodly number more.

Dry Ridge, Kentucky gave us the inspiration for today’s libation. Singer/songwriter Skeeter Davis was born today in 1931. Ms. Davis’ biggest hit was “The End of the World” in 1963. Let’s celebrate with a;

Skeeter Cocktail

1 oz. Hpnotiq

½ oz. Citrus Vodka

½ oz. Midori Melon Liqueur

½ oz. Ron Diaz Rum

¼ oz. Banana Liqueur

Red Bull

Combine ingredients in a cocktail glass.

Top with Red Bull.

Sing away! “Why does the sun go on shining?”

Cheers!
