Our Goose is Cooked!

Well…not exactly…but it is thawing in the kitchen.

Our tradition actually does include a Christmas goose on the menu and it’s quite tasty, thank you very much. I’ll be celebrating that today.

Presents have been opened (even the pup’s), wrapping paper has been flung. We will celebrate being together.

I drive to Louisville with great frequency. As I pass the horse farms between Versailles and Frankfort, the white fences and the field ornaments (I believe you call them horses) remind me repeatedly what a beautiful planet we get to live on and that I get to live in one of the most beautiful parts of that planet. I’ll celebrate that as well.

There are also some birthdays I’ll be celebrating.

–          Today is the birthday of New Orleans trombone master Kid Ory in 1886. “The Tin Roof Blues” shines when Mr. Ory plays it. I’m a big fan.

–          Humphrey Bogart (1899) and Jimmy Buffett (1946) were both born today.

–          Jazz arranger Pete Rugolo (1915) shares this birthday with “The Twilight Zone’s” leading citizen, writer Rod Serling (1924).

–          And there was someone else important…oh yeah…

It’s Christmas!

It’s Christmas!!!

Even in these cynical times, this day holds a promise of better things and better selves for each of us if we’ll only make them happen. What should we make happen first?

Where’s my pink bunny suit?

Drink 4cast 4 2day

We’ll watch Christmas Story eight times and we’ll toast the day with a;

Merry Berry Christmas Margarita

1 oz. Durango Gold Tequila

½ oz. Triple Sec

2 oz. Margarita Mix

½ oz. Pureed Cranberries

Garnish with lime and orange.

Rim glass with red and white sugar.

Mix all ingredients together and serve on the rocks.

Don’t shoot your eye out!
