Where’s the Remote?

Today is World Television Day! What should we do to celebrate?

–          Today in 1980, 83 million of us watched and learned that Kristen was “who shot JR” on Dallas.

–          Today in 1942, we could have watched Tweety Bird make his/her debut in Tale of Two Kitties. “I tawt I taw a paddy tat!” What kind of accent is that?

We have birthdays to celebrate.

–          Two of the finest baseball players ever to swing a bat share a birthday today; Stan “the man” Musial in 1920 and Ken Griffey Jr. in 1969.

–          Also from the sporting world we have quarterback Troy Aickman in 1966 and rodeo king Larry Mahan in 1943.

–          The music world gives us the soaring saxophone of Coleman Hawkins (1904) and the in-your-face sass of Dr. John (1940).

–          The French playwright Voltaire was born today in 1694, as was the Belgian painter Rene Magritte in 1898.

–          It’s a big day for actors; Goldie Hawn (1945), Ingrid Pitt (1937), and “That Girl” Marlo Thomas (also 1937) were all born today.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

Another birthday will give us our daily libation. Harold Ramis, the brainiest ghostbuster I know, was born today in 1944. We’ll toast him with a;

Ghostbuster Cocktail

1 oz. Peach Schnapps

1 oz. Midori Melon Liqueur

3-5 drops of McGrath’s Irish Cream

Pour the peach schnapps and Midori into a cocktail shaker with ice.

Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Add the McGrath’s drop by drop into the center of the drink.

I ain’t scared’a no ghost!
