Frankenstein Day!

There’s too many birthdays today!

–          Actors Shirley Booth (1898), Fred MacMurray (1908), Cameron Diaz (1972), Joan Blondell (1906) and Raymond Massey (1896) were all born today. What a show that would be.

–          Baseball greats Ted Williams (1918) and Tug McGraw (1944) share this birthday. My favorite Tug McGraw quote was his reply when asked if he preferred natural grass to artificial turf; “I don’t know. I never smoked artificial turf.” And yes, it was Mr. McGraw who named his fastball “Peggy Lee” because when he threw it the batters would ask “Is that all there is?”

–          Today is also the birthday of the creator of FRANKENSTEIN, Mary Wollstonecroft Shelley in 1797. “It’s alive!” which is more than you could say about Tug McGraw’s fast ball apparently. I believe the closest any of today’s birthday actors came to playing Frankenstein was Raymond Massey in Arsenic and Old Lace. In that film, Mr. Massey was made up to look like Boris Karloff.

–          Wait, there’s more! Gazillionaire Warren Buffett (1930) was born today, as was opera’s mezzo-soprano Regina Resnik in 1922.

It was also the birthday of English brewer Samuel Whitbread in 1720.

Thus, we’ll make our Drink 4cast 4 2day any of the most excellent Whitbread brews.

Quite a day!
