If You Go Out in the Woods Today…

…you’re in for a big surprise!

According to Hallmark, today is Teddy Bear’s Picnic Day. So…”if you go out in the woods today, you better not go alone!”

And we thought it hot last week

Today in 1913 the temperature hit 134 degrees in Death Valley, California, the highest temperature ever recorded in the United States.

It’s a big day in music

–          Songwriters Cheryl Wheeler (1951) and Arlo Guthrie (1947) were both born today. I believe Nanci Griffith referred to Mr. Guthrie as “the source of most things wise”.

–          Lexington’s favorite jazz banjo is played by Bela Fleck. Mr. Fleck was born today in 1958.

–          Today in 1964, the Beatles released “A Hard Day’s Night”. Sing! “But when I get home to you I find the things that you do make me feel all right.”

The pride of Cynthiana

Actor Lawrence Pressman was born today in 1939.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

Just thinkin’ about that ultra-hot day in Death Valley makes a pina colada sound good. Lucky for us today is also National Pina Colada Day. I’m game.

Pina Colada

½ cup Ron Diaz Light Rum

½ cup Coconut Cream

¼ cup Coconut Milk

¼ cup Pineapple Chunks

Fill blender halfway with ice cubes.

Add ingredients and puree.

Garnish with a slice of pineapple and maraschino cherry.

“It’s lovely out in the woods today, but safer to stay at home!”

Cheers!
