Be Kind to a Nurse Today!

It’s International Nurses Day!

–          Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing was born today in 1820.

–          Character actor Wilfrid Hyde-White was born today in 1903. Mr. Hyde-White is probably best known for his performance as Henry Higgins’ best friend, Colonel Pickering in the film, “My Fair Lady”. But he also had memorable roles in “Let’s Make Love” (with Marilyn Monroe), the  remarkable “The Third Man”, and the execrable “The Million Eyes of Sumuru”. Perhaps most important to us on International Nurses Day is his delightful performance in the British farce, “Carry On Nurse”.

We have two Wildcat birthdays today.

UK Basketball greats Keith Bogans (1980) and Kevin Grevey (1953) share this birth date.

One of my favorite all-time baseball players, Yogi Berra was born today in 1925. Mr. Berra is probably the most quoted baseball player of all time as well. My favorite “Yogi-ism” is; “Always go to other people’s funerals or they won’t come to yours!” Let’s celebrate thinking like that with a;

Yogi Cocktail

2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps

2 oz. McGrath’s Irish Cream

2 oz. Vanilla Vodka

1 splash Vanilla Extract

1 Hershey’s Chocolate Kiss

In a chilled martini glass add schnapps, Irish cream, vodka, and vanilla extract.

Drop in the kiss and serve.

Carry on!
