A Mighty Wind!

Indeed!

The strongest surface wind gust in the world was measured at 231mph on the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire today in 1934.

Another “mighty wind” was born today in 1777; Kentucky’s Great Compromiser, Henry Clay.

It took a Harvard man…

Today in 1877, the catcher for Harvard’s baseball team, James Tyng wore a modified fencing mask behind the plate. It is believed to be the first time a catcher’s mask was used during a game.

One, two, three o’clock, four o’clock – ROCK!

Bill Haley and his Comets recorded “Rock Around the Clock” today in 1954. The world has not been quite the same since.
