The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was founded today in 1866 Henry Bergh in New York City.

There’s a dog and a cat and their haplessly human staff (Janie and me) who are ever so glad Mr. Bergh had this fine day. Singer/songwriter Christine Kane feels even more strongly about it; “Four legs good, two legs bad…”

Legally Bundy!

Lexington’s own Laura Bell Bundy was born today in 1981.

A senior moment…

One of my favorite Cincinnati Reds was Ken Griffey Sr. Papa Griffey was born today in 1950.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s very fine novel THE GREAT GATSBY was published today in 1925 by Charles Scribner’s Sons. I think we’ve all been on the lookout for; “…a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock.”

Gatsby Cocktail

1 ½ oz. Southern Comfort

¾ oz. Lime Cordial

4 ½ oz. Polar Ginger Ale

Pour the Southern Comfort into a tall glass with ice. Add the lime cordial and top up with ginger ale.

“It’s a triumph! What thoroughness! What realism! Knew when to stop, too—“
