Sunday is Invented!

Aren’t we glad?

Today in 321 Emperor Constantine I decreed that the “Dies Solis Invicti” (sun-day) would be the day of rest in the Empire. He then left the house to play golf.

If it hadn’t been so decreed…

…we might not have had the chance to see two great Pittsburgh Steelers play football. Lynn Swann was born today in 1952, as was Franco Harris in 1950. That’s worth celebrating.

One of my favorite songwriters…

…Townes Van Zandt was born today in 1944. Mr. Van Zandt gave us one of the great cowboy songs of all time; “Pancho and Lefty”. Yes, you may now sing; “Lefty can’t sing the blues all night long like he used to.”

Drink 4cast 4 2day

Sunday, as a concept, is too important to ignore. Let’s celebrate with a;

Lazy Sunday Cocktail

1 ½ oz. Durango Tequila

2 ½ oz. Cranberry Juice

1 oz. Ginger Ale

Mix ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

Stir and pour into a martini glass.

Add crushed ice.

Keep singing! “They only let him go so wrong out of kindness I suppose.”

Cheers!

Roger

Bravo Roger for the Blog !

It is clearly written by someone with artistic/musical tastes (and sports heros) from my generation ! I can still remember listening Reds games (after hours on school nights) on my precious transistor radio and cheering on game saving throws at the plate from Geronimo in center field. Almost makes me want to leave france and move back to KY…well….at least I’ll be there to visit in April !

    Thanks
    John

Thanks, John for the kind words. I enjoyed your wines when I tried them. It’s nice to know they’re made by a fellow baseball-lover! I shoulda known. Give a shout when you visit. -Roger.
