I’m Worried About the Beaver!

It seemed as though June Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) spoke those words to her husband Ward (Hugh Beaumont) every week on the television show; “Leave It to Beaver”. When she did, it was an instant signal that a) Beaver Cleaver was in trouble and b) Eddie Haskell would compound the difficulties and c) Hugh Beaumont would make it all okay in the allotted 30 minutes on the schedule. Life was good. Life was safe. Come to think of it, I don’t ever remember it raining or snowing on the show.

Good ol’ Hugh was born today in 1909.

I’ll bet Hugh never had to call 9-1-1 even.

He couldn’t have. 9-1-1 didn’t exist until five years after “Leave It to Beaver” ended its run.

Today in 1968, in Haleyville, Alabama, the first 9-1-1 emergency telephone system went into service. They needed it because they didn’t have Ward Cleaver!

And you thought football was over

In Iceland it was just beginning. Iceland’s first football club; Knattspyrnufelag Reykjavikur, was founded today in 1899. I wanna see the band spell that out at halftime!

Drink 4cast 4 2day

This is an easy call (get it?). We’ll toast the day with a;

9-1-1 Cocktail

½ oz. Cinnamon Schnapps

½ oz. Rumplemintz

Chill both in the freezer.

Pour the Rumplemintz first, and then add the cinnamon schnapps.

It should separate.

Call for help.
