A 388-Year Long Party Begins!

Today in 1624, Sir Thomas Warner founded the first British colony in the Caribbean, on the island of St. Kitt’s. According to the songs of Jimmy Buffett, the party started about 15 minutes later and continues to this day.

Clearly, there needs to be a Liquor Barn on St. Kitt’s! I volunteer for the assignment.

What are they drinking in Montana?

It snowed in Fort Keogh, Montana today in 1887. The world’s largest snowflakes were reported; 15 inches wide and 8 inches thick.

Ri-i-i-i-i-i-ght!

I think I wanna party with those “weather observers”. I’m guessin’ if we took them to St. Kitt’s, they might see snowflakes there!

Drink 4cast 4 2day.

I almost declared it to be Serendipity Day and not just because I like saying it.

It seems that today in 1754, the word was coined by Horace Walpole in a letter to Horace Mann (side note – in my whole life I’ve never met a “Horace”). Having this word available made possible the formation of the 1960’s folk group the Serendipity Singers – by the way, they were a “neuf-tet”. That’s for all you fans of the film, “A Mighty Wind”.

That’s good enough for me! Let’s hoist a;

Serendipity Cocktail

1 oz. Giannelli Amaretto

1 ½ oz. Grand Marnier

1 oz. Triple Sec

2 oz. Denaka Vodka

1 oz. Grenadine

4 oz. Orange juice

Mix everything in a shaker and serve over ice.

Sing! “If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane.”

Cheers!

Roger
