George & Martha Got Hitched!

George Washington and Martha Dandridge Custis got married today in 1759.

Yes, I always cry at weddings, but no, I was not at this one.

We have a passion for listing and ranking things in our country. How about a ranking of the most memorable George and Martha’s? Here’s my beginning;

  1. George and Martha Washington – tough to vote against the father of our country.
  2. George and Martha Wilson from “Dennis the Menace” – Mr. Wilson has to put with much, but at least he has Mrs. Wilson’s baking to sustain him.
  3. George and Martha from Edward Albee’s play; “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” – not the people you’d like to live next door.

Feel free to add to the list and we’ll submit it to USA Today…or David Letterman!

There are other birthdays of interest.

–          One of my favorite songwriters was born today in 1961. Iris DeMent gave us “Let the Mystery Be” and “Infamous Angel”. I recommend the lady’s work.

–          It’s a big day for actors. Diane Keaton (1946), Robert Duvall (1931), and teacher/director Contantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky (1863) were all born today.

It’s National Bird Day in the United States. If you see Larry, wish him well.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

King Camp Gillette was born today in 1855. Beards beware!

Let’s toast the day with a;

Razor Blade Shooter

1 oz. Ron Diaz 151 Rum

1 oz. Jagermeister

Look sharp!

Cheers!
