Little Grey Cells & Rich Corinthian Leather!

It’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. I will be pulling for making a day like this unnecessary and silly.

It’s also Independence Day in Suriname.

AND…today in 1952, Agatha Christie’s murder-mystery play, “The Mousetrap” opened at the Ambassadors Theatre in London, later becoming the longest continuously-running play in history.

Birthdays of interest;

–          Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio was born today in 1914. (sing it!) “Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.”

–          Plaintive soul crooner Percy Sledge likewise in 1941. (sing it again!) “Take time to know her.”

–          Today in 1920, the star of Star Trek II, television’s “The Untouchables”, and several steamy car commercials, Ricardo Montalban was born. “Rich Corinthian leather” indeed.

–          “Night Court’s” John Larroquette (1947) shares this birthday with fantasy writer Poul Anderson (1926).

–          Today is also the birthday of singer Holly Cole (1963) and composer Virgil Thomson (1896). I don’t believe Ms. Cole has yet recorded any of Mr. Thomson’s music, but there’s time still.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

We’ll return to Ms. Christie’s play for our daily refreshment.

Mouse Trap Cocktail

2 oz. Grays Peak Vodka

1 ½ oz. Triple Sec

3 oz. 7-Up

1 ½ oz. Grenadine Syrup

2 oz. Orange Juice

Shake vodka, triple sec, and orange juice with ice.

Strain into a cocktail glass add 7-Up (do not shake, stir).

Layer the drink with grenadine on top.

Something’s afoot!

Cheers!
