Maker’s Mark Heritage Bottles Have Landed!

Come and get’em.

It’s Independence Day in Transnistria!

Transnistria…really? I don’t whether to laugh, cry, flip or fly. I’ll just hold up my cigarette lighter…wait…I don’t smoke.

Birthdays! We have birthdays!

–         Today is the birthday in 1901 of the Baron of Basketball, Kentucky’s own Adolph Rupp.

–         Collage artist Romare Bearden (1911) shares this birthday with jazz pianist Horace Silver (1928).

–         It’s also the birthday of Queen Liliuokalani of Hawaii in 1838. This is, of course, important because I can pronounce it and it’s fun to say. And did I mention Hawaii?

–         Actors Salma Hayek (1966) and Keanu Reeves (1964) were also born today.

Drink 4cast 4 2day

Today in 1901 (yes, even as Adolph Rupp was being born) Vice President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt uttered the famous phrase; “Speak softly and carry a big stick” at the Minnesota State Fair.

Thus, I give you…

Big Stick Cocktail

½ oz. Sloe Gin

½ oz. Southern Comfort

½ oz Peach Schnapps

Build over ice in an 11 oz. glass

Bully!

Cheers,

Roger

9/2/11.
