How to Talk Funny

And now for something on a lighter note…

Today in 1868 French astronomer Pierre Jules Cesar Janssen discovered helium. It took awhile for him to communicate the news of his discovery. No one could understand his newly funny voice.

What else happened today that we can celebrate?

–         Virginia Dare, granddaughter of John White, governor of the Colony of Roanoke, was born today in 1587, making her the first English child born in the Americas.

–         In 1909 Mayor of Tokyo, Yukio Ozaki, presented Washington, DC with 2,000 cherry trees, which President Taft (remember him?) decided to plant near the Potomac River. Thus, a festival was born.

–         A huge fireball meteor was seen today in 1783 across the United Kingdom as it passed over the east coast. I think I used to drive a fireball meteor.

Yes Virginia, we have other birthdays;

–         We can make a funny movie today with our birthday folks. Comedian Martin Mull (1943) can write the script,

–         The actors will be Shelley Winters (1920) and Robert Redford (1936),

–         Their make-up will be done by Max Factor (1904) and

–         Roman Polanski (1933) can direct.

–         In the sports world; today’s the birthday of the amazing outfielder Roberto Clemente (1934), former Reds owner Marge Schott (1928) and Kentucky’s own NBA star Kenny “Sky” Walker (1964).

Whew!

Our “”Drink 4cast 4 2day” will come from literature.

Today in 1958, Vladimir Nabokov controversial novel LOLITA was published in the United States.

¼ oz. lime juice

1 tsp. honey
