Why Celebrate Today? July 7, 2011

A note from Brad;

Hey Louisville Liquor Barn fans, stop by the Springhurst Liquor Barn to check out one cool Jet Ski.

It can be yours. You’ve got to be in it to win it, so you can enter to win by visiting www.tastepoints.com. It’s easy. All Louisville Liquor Barn locations will also have information on this promo on Miller Lite 30pk displays.

Of course, if you win, we require at least one ride on a sunny, hot afternoon.

Bourbon event at our Fern Valley store today!

Our good friend, Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson will be at our Fern Valley store today from 5-7pm signing his Angel’s Envy bourbon. If you’ve not tried this limited production bourbon, do so…now! It will make you proud to be a Kentuckian.

Let’s celebrate today;

–          On this day in 1928 sliced bread was sold for the first time by the Chillicothe Baking Company of Chillicothe, Missouri. It was the greatest thing since…?

–          Elvis Presley made his radio debut when WHBQ of Memphis played his first recording for Sun Records; “That’s All Right.”

–          The United States annexed Hawaii as a territory (showing wisdom beyond all years).

Today’s the birthday of composers Gustav Mahler (1860) and Gian Carlo Menotti (1911), film directors Vittorio De Sica (1901) and George Cukor (1899), painter Marc Chagall (1887) and singers Charlie Louvin (1927) and Vonda Shepard (1963).

Our “Cocktail 4 2day” is for the birthday of another singer/drummer; Ringo Starr, born this day in 1940.

Coca Cola (6 oz.)

Sloe Gin (2oz.)
