Why Celebrate Today? June 1, 2011

“Do you remember where you were when…?”

We’ve all played that game and usually the event being remembered is a great serious matter. But I suspect we all have a few less serious landmark events that tie us to a certain place and time. One of mine happened today in 1967. The Beatles released a new record that day; Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I think I memorized it completely that afternoon. Take that as a warning that you could be seriously bored if the subject comes up.

But that’s not we’re celebrating today.

Marilyn Monroe was born on this day in 1926.

Now THAT’S worth celebrating with a glass of Marilyn Merlot. The name’s a bit silly but the wine is quite fine and worthy of being our “Cocktail 4 2day”.

Cheers!

Roger.
