Hefeweizens, weissbiers, or wheat beers are brewed with wheat malt (at least 50%) and light Pilsner malt.  These beers are going to have a very low hop flavor and aroma, if at all.  Hefes are generally light to medium in body.  Spices such as clove and nutmeg are commonly found along with notes of banana.  A cloudy appearance is often present due to high-yeast content.
Franziskaner Dunkel A nice medium-bodied Dunkel Weizen.  A more prominent malt characteristic gives this beer a much darker color and robust flavor.  Similar to the Hefe, the Dunkel is full of spices, cloves, yeast, and bananas.  Brewed in Munich, Germany.  5.5% abv.
Bell’s Oberon A crisp and refreshing wheat beer with flavors of orange peel, coriander, and fruity spices.  The addition of Saaz hops gives this beer a very balanced bitter finish.  Brewed in Kalamazoo, MI.  5.8% abv
Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen A German-Style Hefeweizen brewed with malted, white wheat.  Flavors of clove, banana, spices, and fruity esters make this wheat beer smooth and refreshing.  Brewed in Frederick, MD.  4.7% abv.
Ommegang Witte A light, crisp and refreshing Belgian-Style pale golden wheat ale.  Flavors of orange, coriander, lemon and spices.  Brewed in Cooperstown, NY.  5.1% abv.
Avery White Rascal An authentic Belgian style Wheat ale.  An unfiltered, heavily wheated beer, cleverly spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel producing a refreshingly fruity thirst quencher.  Brewed in Boulder, CO.  5.6% abv.
Food Pairing: These beers would be a nice compliment to the following cuisines:
-Light salads or fruit salads.  Wheat beers have a low bitterness level and light fruit which allows them to work well with light greens.
-Lightly grilled fish and shellfish.  Crab, oysters, shrimp, crawfish and lobster.
-Breakfast/Brunch.  Can be consumed in place of a mimosa.  A glass of weissbier provides a nice match for eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon.
-Cheese (Colby, Asiago, Parmesan, Boursin, Camembert, Chevre, Derby, Goat/Drunken Goat)
