Two ways to wine the day away thanks to Michael Sorg, Liquor Barn’s main Wine Guy!

Wine: Hughes Beaulieu Picpoul de Pinet 2008 Coteaux du Languedoc, Region: France, $9.99 per 750 ml, Rating: 88 points

The light bouquet has some zestiness initially that soon fades out to reveal some perfume, river rock and lime rind aromas.  It has a lot of zing on the palate that makes it juicy and fresh, with tart citrus flavors that are well balanced.  The finish shows some surprising length.  Very much a springtime wine!

Wine: Cortenova Pinot Grigio 2007 Venezie

Region: Italy, $12.99 per 750 ml, Rating: 87 points

The light bouquet has fresh citrus and tree fruit aromas that are a bit subdued.  A bolt of glycerin makes the palate entry a bit sappy, but tart citrus flavors soon move to the fore, propped up by firm acidity, and the finish is juicy.
